Dauntless Materials

Here's a small sample of the material work I did on Dauntless.
These materials were used on many assets, ranging from skin, eyes, hair, props. weapons, armors and more.

Dauntless - Eyeball Material

Used on the Player Characters.
Can change colors (inner & outer).
Has a lot more features that never actually made it in the game. 
IE: snake eye, etc. There's also sclera color control and its level of redness.

Dauntless - Head Material

Used for the Player Characters selection screen. Can change colors, have facepaints, makeup, etc.

This is the portion of the material responsible responsible for blending the color zones of the face

The color zones are balanced throughout the material (masks and color blending settings). 
You only need to change the skin tint color and everything follows properly.
It uses subsurface profile.

Dauntless - First Hair Material 
Built using the new hair shading model introduced in 4.11

With vertex animation to fake the wind moving the hair around. 

Has base color and root to tip 2 color 

Was also used for the beards

This 2 channel texture alongside a normal map are used to generate almost all the hairstyle & beards

This material uses a screen space texture helping sell the illusion of void or extra dimension inside of it. 
That and a few other tricks.

Dauntless - Granny's Potion Material

It was a somewhat tricky one to make. I deform the object and always conform it on an axis, giving the illusion of liquid in a bottle. I also added a subtle sine wobble to give it that extra movement

Tried to come up with a fuzzy plushy toy feel for the Ramsgiving assets. 
The goal was to give them a more unique and consistent feel and stand out from the rest of the weapons/armors/assets
